I purchased this steer skull from Amazon and painted it black, then I added a few decorative conchos. It won’t leave marks on the wall and peels off easily when it’s time to move. I created this rental friendly accent wall using craft tape. I wanted to keep the rest of the shelf simple and neutral so I just added a few plants, flipped around some books, and added a couple baskets. I picked up a plain wood piece from Michael’s and painted a tribal black and white design on it. I painted the edges black to tie it in with the decor. The shelf behind the couch is an IKEA Billy bookcase. I was so thrilled with these changes that I thought it was finally time for a living room tour! Luckily the challenges ended up making me swap out the hanging arc lamp with our bedroom lamp. Adding a shelf behind the couch presented some additional challenges that I didn’t think about before diving in. It’s neatly tucked behind the black and white painted wooden piece on the shelf. Recently I took on the task of hiding the the window unit air conditioner in this space. I’m always moving things around and doing slight adjustments here and there. Decorating a room is a never ending project I really enjoy.
